Sessions will be run as plennary, strategic or parallel thematic sessions based on the following pillars:
- European Road Research Needs and Agendas
- Mobility of People & Transport of Goods
- Safety & Security
- Energy, Environment & Resources
- Design & Production
- Integrated Approaches
The first Pillar will focus on current and forthcoming European Research activities and programmes. Pillars II to V correspond to the specified research areas of ERTRAC’s Strategic Research Agenda and are complemented by an additional pillar to address the cross-cutting issues that consider more than one of the ERTRAC research areas.

The added value of Ljubljana 2008 event will be greater participation of Southern European Countries, the EU New Members States (NMS) and Candidate Countries (CC), as well as other neighbouring European countries, in order to reduce gaps between the levels of service of road transport, for the benefit the overall competitiveness and cohesion of Europe.
