Next TRA conference dates set
Hot on the heels of the massively successful TRA 2006 conference in Ljubljana, dates for the next edition of Transport Research Arena have now been set for the 2010 edition, to be held in Brussels.
TRA is the major road transport research event in Europe. The 2006 edition last April drew more than 1200 participants from across the continent and the world, representing all sectors and communities with a stake in road transport.
The next edition, TRA 2010, will take place in Brussels from 7-10 June 2010, in the run-up to the Belgian EU Presidency. It will promote work on the same priorities as TRA 2008, i.e. greener, safer, smarter road transport.
A first meeting of the TRA 2010 Management Committee, held last April, dealt with issues from TRA website handover to sponsorship and venue selection. The meeting was opened by Chris Caestecker, Director General of the Flemish Roads and Traffic Agency. A second meeting will take place on 29 May 2008.
Getting the show on the road
Main sponsors, as for previous editions of TRA, will be the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), the European Road Transport Research Council (ERTRAC), the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FERHL), and the European Commission, including representatives of DG TREN, DG RTD and DG INFSO.
André Vits of DG INFSO has confirmed the interest of the European Commission, stressing the desire to see a more multimodal focus, spotlighting not only road transport but also interfaces with other transport modes, in particular those related to public transport and urban mobility.
The TRA2010 conference will be organised jointly by the Flemish and Walloon road administrations. Interested parties are urged to watch the TRA website for further information on this important event as it becomes available.
